Psychometric Instruments can be powerful measures of human behaviour and characteristics. Psychometrics is probably an area of psychology which has had the greatest impact on the public. Most people will at some time in their life have completed some form of psychological test.

Historically the primary focus of psychometric testing has been for evaluation purposes with little attention given to the benefits of assessments as a tool in psychotherapy. Lewak et al (1990), suggests these traditional assessments have benefits in a collaborative and therapeutic context.

Here at changes.ie, psychometric instruments may be utilised to identify client strengths and positive characteristics. Assessments empower client's to make their own decisions, foster self understanding & development and self actualisation.

Ultimitely psychometric instruments may contribute to the change process. They remain a valuable resource for the client in psychotherapy.
